Alarms

On the alarms settings page you can set a number of alarm conditions, these are:

  • when the Average Downstream speed exceeds the defined value
  • when the Average Upstream speed exceeds the defined value
  • when the Average Downstream speed drops below the defined value
  • when the Average Upstream speed drops below the defined value
  • when the Actual Downstream speed exceeds the defined value
  • when the Actual Upstream speed exceeds the defined value
  • when the Actual Downstream speed drops below the defined value
  • when the Actual Upstream speed drops below the defined value
  • when Downstream is inactive for x minutes
  • when Upstream is inactive for x minutes

The ‘Trigger the following event’ box lists the following actions to be taken might an alarm condition is met:

  • Sound a system beep
  • Send an Email
  • Execute a local program or file, eg. a batchfile, executable or a document
  • Request an URL, eg. a CGI script

Enter either an Email address, full path to a program or file, or a qualified URL in the field below the selection box to define the action to be taken.

Pressing the All On/Off button will check or uncheck all the boxes. When you Close the window the settings are stored.

Remark: be very considerate when installing alarms and selecting the action to be taken. It can easilly result in one continuous stream of Emails or program executions that will eventually hang your system. Example: if you set an alarm for speed exceeding 1 Kilobit and select Email as action, you will receive an email message every second...

Alarms will of course only be processed if ICB is Active
